All We Need Now Is You!

Thanks to a phenomenal facilities staff and a spectacular Office Manager who all worked tirelessly all summer long, as well as to teachers who worked for countless hours to set up their rooms this summer, we are ready for opening day. All we need now is you! Click here for a slideshow of pictures to see our shining school ready to welcome you all back to another fabulous year of discovery and wonder!

Recently I was reading another educator’s blog post and she talked about the difference between saying “we are going back to school” versus “we are looking forward to school starting.” In this post (which I can not put my fingers on or I would cite it), the author spoke about how she always talks about looking forward to school because the connotation of the phrase is about moving forward and always focusing on continuous improvement. Going “back” to school connotes that we are going back to the way things have always been done.

As we embark on this new school year together, I want you to know that each year the faculty and staff at Ruggles Lane LOOK FORWARD to strive to be a better school than we were the year before. We take seriously our charge to build and sustain a culture within our school that is safe and welcoming for all. In the words of American poet Edith Lovejoy Pierce, “We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Oppurtunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.”

Tomorrow is our school’s New Year’s Day and I LOOK FORWARD to celebrating this joyous occasion with each of you! Happy New Year Ruggles Lane!
