For those of you who have an older child in 6th grade (or older), you know that Nature’s Classroom is a trip that is not only fun and educational, but it is also a chance to make lifelong memories. This four day, overnight trip is an experiential field trip to the Cape full of learning and bonding that every fifth grader looks forward to all year.
We have been going on this field trip for so many years that many parents reminisce about their own trip on drop off day! Ask any staff member (or student) and they will all concur that this trip is well worth the cost as it is a growth experience that helps children to mature, to become their own person, and to begin to take responsibility for things many have not yet had to do at home. In addition to that, the hands on academics are amazing!
In order to make this year’s trip possible, we need everyone’s help! If you are a parent of a child not in 5th grade, you may be wondering why this matters to you? Each year, we conduct several fundraisers to reduce the cost of this trip so that every child who wants to attend can at a reduced rate. This year our fundraisers will also support the cost of the chaperones. The Magazine Drive is one of our major fundraisers and raises a significant portion of the cost. Click here to read more information on this important fundraiser as tomorrow is the last collection day.
We also will be adding an adult yoga class as a fundraiser for Nature’s Classroom. Thank you to RLS 2nd grade parent, Elizabeth Garrett, for offering this class. Click here more information!
Thank you for your support of Nature’s Classroom – it truly is well worth the expense – I promise. Should you have any questions or concerns about anything in this newsletter, or any other aspect of your child’s RLS experience, please let me know. Do not hesitate to give me a call, to send an email or to stop by the office!
