Dear Ruggles Family,
In our last Barre Blast, we talked about the our WINN program getting up and running in the month of October after doing our baseline assessments in September. Click here to access a parent presentation that speaks to this initiative in more detail. This past week we welcomed a team of five teachers and their Principal from the Florence Roche Elementary School in Groton. Flo Ro, as they are affectionately called, is in the process of launching a similar program and came to learn from our students and staff.
We are excited to share with you that this visit was a great success. It was an exciting experience as Principals to watch our teachers and students share the hard work and dedication that goes into our intervention program. The Groton team was very impressed by the teaching and learning taking place during this block across the school. It was a wonderful opportunity for both teams of teachers to learn from each other throughout the day. We look forward to being able to visit Flo Ro after the Thanksgiving recess to learn more about the Eureka math program we are piloting in some classes this year. Groton is in the fourth year of implementation of Eureka.
In addition to complementing the hard work and dedication of our students and staff, the visiting team also was effusive about the respectful way our students interacted with our guests. One teacher shared that a 1st grade student gave her a big hug in thanks for reading with her. Another teacher shared that a 3rd grade student came up to her in the classroom and stated, “Thank you for visiting us today. I hope you are enjoying your visit to our school.” These are only two examples of the stories they shared. Needless to say we were very proud of our Respectful, Learning, Safe community that day as we are every day!

Requests Due Wednesday, November 15th
The holiday season is a happy time to get together with family and friends. It can also be a stressful and challenging time for families facing financial hardships. Ruggles Lane School and the Barre community get together to help those who are in need during the holiday season. We purchase items such as toys, gift cards, clothes, footwear, and outer wear.
If you are facing financial difficulty and need assistance, please provide the following information:
- Your name, address and contact number (will remain confidential).
- Name, gender, age and sizes of children in your household (names remain confidential).
- Gift wish list stating specific requests, etc.
This information should be sent to Terri Consolmagno at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also send the information to school in a sealed envelope. Should you have questions, please give Terri a call. Requests are due by Wednesday, November 15th to allow for shopping over the Thanksgiving break. Further information will be sent regarding pick-up after Thanksgiving.
We are in need of volunteers to help with the sorting and passing out of pies. 385 pies will be delivered to Ruggles Lane about 2:00, on Wednesday. We need 10-20 people to help to sort and to pass out pies to families – currently we have 3! Pick-up for the pies will be from 3:00-4:00. A reminder that they come frozen and we do not have storage space at the school. If you are not able to pick-up during this time, other arrangements will need to be made.
Congratulations to our entire school community for our efforts to collect Box Tops in October. Congratulations to Mrs. Olson’s class for bringing in the most Box Tops – have fun at your extra recess!
