January Barre Blast

Dear Ruggles Family,

GreenScreenStudioIn lieu of our traditional message, we are excited to share with you our first video newsletter! We look forward to continuing this practice once a month as we work to teach green screen technology to more and more students. Click here to get a student perspective on the happenings at Ruggles Lane in the past few weeks!

There is a lot to share with you in this newsletter. See below for a listing of upcoming school events and much more! Should you have any questions or concerns about anything in this newsletter, or any other aspect of your child’s RLS experience, please let me know. Do not hesitate to give us a call, to send an email or to stop by the office!

We hope each of you has a wonderful vacation week filled with lasting memories of time spent with family and friends. We look forward to seeing what 2018 has in store for our learning community.

Picture of the Week

We are excited to welcome Ruggles the Bunny to the Ruggles Lane family! The addition of class pets is a pilot project organized by a group of dedicated 6th graders. Ruggles is currently spending his vacation with an RLS staff member and her family but is looking forward to rejoining Ms. Lutzen’s 6th grade class in the New Year!

We are excited for our first music concert of the school year featuring our musicians in 4th-6th grade. The band, chorus and orchestra will perform as well as our 4th grade chorus and recorder players! Due to space constraints, we will only be able to accommodate 4th grade parents. Parents of 5th and 6th students will be able to hear this concert at the evening concert held later in the month. 4th grade students do not perform at that event.

Bathroom PSA!

Recently, we have seen an increase in unexpected behaviors in the bathroom. A group of 6th grade students created a Public Service Announcement to review bathroom behaviors. Click here to see the video that was shown in each classroom prior to the break – as you can see from the video the kids had a great time creating this skit and rap! We would ask that you take some time to review these expectations with your child/ren prior to our return in 2018.

With our first snow day of the school year, our last day of school is now scheduled to be Thursday, June 14th.

The 6th Grade class photo was reprinted with the correct information. It was shipped from O’Connor yesterday. The individual class pictures that were taken on retake day were also in that shipment. These will be distributed after the vacation.

This year QRSD will continue to run Fun Frontier, a before and after school program. Click here for their flyer and click here for their brochure. Should you need information, feel free to reach out to the director, Kari Sacramone, at ksacramone@qrsd.org.

As a reminder, our office hours will be 8:00-4:00. During these times, if we do not answer the phone, we are helping another family and ask that you leave us a voice mail. We can also be reached via email at RLS@qrsd.org.
