Dear Ruggles Lane Community,
We had a great kick off to 2019 at Ruggles Lane! One of the highlights of the New Year was the book tasting for the MA Children’s Book Award. Mrs. Josephson created a picnic like atmosphere for the book tasting during which she introduced the award book list and challenged the children to participate. Click here to access the book list.
Anyone who reads at least five of the books gets to vote on what book they want to win the award. In addition, there will be prizes for the students who participate! As students finish reading a book, they are encouraged to add a book review to our MCBA FlipGrid page – click here to check it out! February is Love of Reading month so keep reading the MCBA list!
In celebration of Love of Reading Month, the PTO will be sponsoring an event called Ruggles Loves Reading! Children are encouraged to visit the school from 6:30-7:30 on Friday, February 8th. Students are encouraged to come in their pajamas and enjoy goodies and books with friends and family! There will also be a book raffle. Click here for the flyer! There will be a bake sale to benefit 3rd grade field trips.
Should you have any questions or concerns about anything in this newsletter, or any other aspect of your child’s RLS experience, please let us know. Do not hesitate to give us a call, to send an email or to stop by the office.
Go Pats!

Picture of the Week
We’ve had a lot of indoor recess this past month but slime antics are making it fun! These second graders love making slime bubbles. Such fun! A reminder that we do go out as long as it is 20 degrees with the windchill. Children should bring appropriate outerwear for being outside for 25 minutes.
Click here for an interesting article from the Washington Post that talks about the importance of getting enough sleep.
We are excited to provide an opportunity for our Ruggles Readers to share what they are reading throughout the year! Click here for a link to our year-long reading project.
